Preventative Maintenance

Picture
Many repairs, on components like the boom, can eat into your profits, especially when they hit you in the middle of a job or during your busy season.  How can you detect worn components sooner, reduce your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and minimize repairs?

We recommend regular Preventative Maintenance:
  • INSPECT your crane in-depth (above & beyond an annual inspection)
  • CHECK & MEASURE critical areas for wear
  • LUBRICATE all major components
  • Make MINOR ADJUSTMENTS

In order to keep cranes working safely and properly they require regular inspections. We offer state and federal inspection services on cranes, hoists, chain-falls, and “below the hook” lifting fixtures like spreader bars.  At Crane Repair Service our staff is knowledgeable on a wide variety of cranes and has been trained to detect safety hazards before they become a problem. Annual or Periodic structural & operational inspections are required by WISHA (WAC #296-24) or OSHA (29 CFR, Parts 1915, 1917 and 1918).

We inspect the following types of equipment and components:

  • Overhead – bridge, gantry, jib
  • Mobile – rough terrain, construction
  • Marine - whirly, container, portal, level luffers, grain spouts
  • Hoists & Chainfalls – fish-pole, hand-chain, lever hoist,
  • Lifting Devices – spreader bar, lift fixture
  • Components - crane runways, brakes

Our technicians are certified with Washington State, Federal OSHA Maritime Crane (Longshore and Shipyard), and NCCCO.  With over 20 years of experience our accredited technicians help you keep your crane equipment safe and in service to keep your business booming.

We perform load tests at your yard or job site and at our shop.  We can bring our test weights or use heavily sufficient items you already have “at the ready” next to your crane, such as ecology blocks, by verifying their actual weight with our certified dynamometers.  We can also bring our load testing apparatus to your site in order to inspect and load test your fleet of chainfalls.  This works best for customers who have 20 or more chainfalls. For mobile and overhead cranes, load testing is not standard, but can be included upon request.

In 2012, we introduced a new service, inspecting and load testing “below the hook” devices such as spreader bars and lift fixtures.  Our new facility was designed to handle equipment sized up to 50 Ton and 30 ft long.  We can accommodate larger sized devices upon request.
