Washington State’s New Annual Inspection & Load testing of Construction Cranes Rule goes into effect January 1, 2010

The new safety standards applies to 1 ton and over power-operated cranes and derricks used in construction that can hoist, lower and horizontally move a suspended load(with or without attachments). Such equipment includes, but is not limited to:
Mobile Cranes: (Rough Terrain, All-terrain, Truck Mounted, Boom Truck Cranes, Articulating Boom Cranes, Carry-deck Cranes, Dedicated Pile Drivers, Service/Mechanic Trucks with a hoisting Device, Lattice Boom, Articulating Boom, Telescopic Boom, Crawler Cranes & Tower Cranes. As well as any mobile crane on a jobsite needs to be certified.

What should you check before your inspection?
- Verify the fire extinguisher is a 10bc minimum, and has a current tag on it.
- There is a copy fo the crane's manaul in the truck.
- all fo the tires are in good condition.
- all of the truck's gauges are functioning properly.
- Check the glass in truck cab for cracks or damage. Visibility must not be obstructed in any direction by damaged glass.
- All of the controls are clearly marked.
- Make sure all safety warning labels are in place, and clearly readable.
- No leaking or damaged hydralic hoses.
- No obvious damage.
Repairing these common deficiencies before your scheduled Inspection, will insure that more of your cranes pass their inspections successfully!
